Saying goodbye to an old friend.
It is with a great deal of sadness that my wife and I said good-bye to an old friend. The friend was actually an inanimate object. It was a Red Barn.
This barn stood tall and prominent for many years. since the mid to late 1800's in fact. It is not difficult to imagine the changes this old structure saw over the years.
One keepsake, salvaged, was a cut
out of barn siding from the interior wall on the southwest side of the old
"Red" barn on the property of
"1927

Preservation of old barns is a noble effort in deed, but in this case the years took their toll and life was virtually wrung out of this old structure.
Goodbye old friend you sat so prominent on our land, originally owned by S. W. Alward, just East of Columbia Road
