Our Feathered friends
A statue of St
Francis of Assisi adorns a certain spot
To bless the
tiny, featherd creatures feeding in our garden plot
They come in
flocks to our side yard to partake of a winter fiesta
Then they are
up and off to their protected nests for a late noon siesta
Little Tufted
Tit Mice Cardinals and a whole lot more
Sparrows, Jays
and Grackle birds are welcome to the party
The more the
merrier it’s often said, let them enjoy and eat hearty
‘
Juncos and a
wayward Robin who missed its flight to the south
Along with
doves and other ground feeders know by word of mouth
That they are
at the best bird café in a community of nature lovers and such
The one just
outside our kitchen window, we serve them Pennsylvania Dutch
There is joy in
feeding these little winged creatures
These hungry
tufts of softness with other adorable features
Clusters of
color with button eyes, raucous at their bird buffet
They seem to
know they are showing off to please us during their stay
Thank you God
for the light you bring during a February malaise
And for Nature
that you created which is worthy of so much praise.
Let’s join with
the other caring individuals that feed our feathered friends
And accept the
charge of stewardship and love that Your powerful will portends
