I Remember Kim

It’s funny how one reminisces the older that they become

It’s probably a mechanism, built in, to keep the brain from becoming numb

One of the things that I remember well,

an anecdote I’d like to tell

Is a memory not too obtuse

about a boyhood chum I’ll call the "Goose"

We had pet names, then, for one another. He called me "Hog"

But, actually this rambling recital is about his dog

"Kim" had a stubby little tail as a copper colored cocker

That’s how I first became aware that a Vet was also a docker

We used to play so hard with the Goose’s favorite pet

Sometimes to the point that the dog became upset

He would growl a little under his breath and woof a little too

But usually he would just get up and look for something to chew.

I spent a lot of time with Goose and his dog named Kim

The impression was so great , I later got a dog just like him

It’s funny how you reminisce, the older you become

I think it helps to cope with age as years add up to a major sum

I’ll bet doggie heaven is full of pets looking down on masters, old

Remembering how it was for them before the bell tolled

They probably yip and yap and growl with glee as they romp about above

I wonder if they know the feeling of a master’s total love.

I’d like to think they do

I wonder if Goose feels the same way too?
